Norwegian women and gender research is not well known outside the borders of Norway. One reason for this is that their academic language is Norwegian, and only a few publish books or articles in English. In this issue you will find articles that has been translated to English. Thus, Kvinneforskning hopes to reach out to a wider audience. Norwegian women and gender research deserves a larger, international audience than it has had in the past. We are, therefore, pleased to get this opportunity to present Norwegian women and gender researchers.

Thematically the focus is on perspectives and approaches to some crucial topics: globalization and North South issues.

This edition of Kvinneforskning presents the topics from various disciplines, reflecting feminist studies as a multidisciplinary field of research. The articles are written by scholars with backgrounds in History, Social Anthropology, Geography, Theology, Medicine, Sociology and Law. They focus on concepts, perspectives and approaches that hopefully advance theoretical development as well as enrich the empirical pool of knowledge.
